Original 1930s 30s Vintage Black Velvet Coat With Pixie Hood

This fabulous coat was made from sumptuous black velvet in the 1930s. It feels rich and comes in a deeply saturated black trimmed with white fur. The most wonderful feature is the amazing pointed pixie hood, which alongside the super strong padded puff shoulders, adds to the classic 1930s style of this piece. The coat is lined in white satin and retains its original label for Aridex, an early water repellent fabric finish, which was known for strengthening the original fabric. It is however unlikely, after all these years, that any water repellency remains. It closes with a single velvet covered button and loop at the neck.

The coat is in good condition, however there are a few small nibbles to the velvet as pictured. There are also some small marks and splits to the lining which cannot be seen when worn and an underarm seam repair.
