Original 1940s 40s Vintage Forest Green Forstmann Wool Gabardine Skirt Suit With Amazing Collar
This fabulous suit was made from forest green wool gabardine in the 1940s. It is cut in a classic 1940s silhouette with strong padded shoulders and a nipped waist. The unusual collar adds a real feature to the suit with its square shape and notched bottom corners. The blazer fastens with a single row of four fabric covered buttons which have been embellished with a wonderful stitched design. Matching buttons decorate the large faux pocket flaps and beautiful seam work gives further emphasis to the fitted waist. Inside, the jacket is lined in green crepe and has a maker’s label for Max Levine of New York as wells as the Forstmann wool label. The matching skirt fastens with an original metal side zipper and button closure above.

The suit is in good condition with only a couple of barely noticeable marks and a tiny nibble. The collar corners have a little iron shine and there is some slight fade to the shoulder (much less noticeable than in the condition image, please see full pictures of the jacket). The lining is very discoloured at the shoulders and the lining seams at the underarms need to be repaired, however this is not noticeable when worn.
