Original 1940s 40s Pink And White Stripe Rayon Dress With Back Bow And Bustle in Schiaparelli Style

This beautiful full length rayon dress was made in the 1940s. It gives us huge Schiaparelli vibes with the use of shocking pink and black stripes on a white background, which has been further accentuated with a black robe and flower pattern. The dress boast a sailor style tie knot collar with black lace around the neckline. This collar extends around the shoulders and develops into a shawl collar at the back of the dress. The back on the dress is embellished with a huge fan shaped bustle panel and a velvet tie string, which is used to nip in the waist. The striped chevron pattern on the skirt gives the illusion of a little extra length in the skirt, this elongating the wearer’s body. Pleating to the bodice and skirt waist seam gives a little extra shaping and movement to the garment. The dress fastens with an original metal side zipper and is unlined.

The dress is in very good condition, however there are some holes in the lace around the neckline as pictured and wear to the area just above the metal side zipper. There is fraying to the ends of the velvet tie.

This garment is available to purchase with or without dress shields. These clever little contraptions have been made by our seamstress to an original 1940s pattern and can be simply attached to your garment by tack stitching at the corners of the underarm seam, pinning (we wouldn’t recommend that, it hurts if it goes wrong, so if you try this, it is at your own risk only) or inserting tiny poppers. They then stand ready to absorb any sweat and body odours as needed and you can simply detach and launder them instead of your garment, saving you a fortune in dry cleaning bills.

They are equally suitable for suits, blazers and dresses and come in two different options:

1. Pure cream cotton for your heavier weight dresses, blazers and suits

or

2. White cotton muslin for lightweight summer dresses (so they don’t show through the fabric)

They are universally sized and super easy to use even for a sewing novice as only a couple of tiny stitches are required at each side to secure them.
