Original Late 1940s 40s Vintage Purple Blue Skirt Suit With Pleated Skirt
This stunning suit was made in the late 1940s from wool gabardine in a stunning shade of bluey purple. It is cut in the classic 1940s hourglass silhouette with padded shoulders and a nipped waist. The large collar leads to a single row of four fabric covered buttons with diamanté centres, which fasten the blazer. The jacket hem peplums out a little to emphasise the shape of the waist and princess seaming at the back highlights this further. Turn up cuffs finish off the sleeves and the inside us lined in lavender crepe. The matching skirt is cut in an long A line shape and features quintuple accordion pleats at the waist, which give wonderful movement to the skirt. It fastens with an original metal side zipper and button closure above.

The suit is in good condition, however there are a number of well executed darns as pictured and the crepe lining is marked at the underarms.
