Original 1940s 40s Vintage Brick Red Check Skirt Suit With Huge Collar

This stunning skirt suit was made from a brick red wool with a micro check pattern in the 1940s. It features a classic 1940s hourglass silhouette of padded shoulders and a nipped waist. The huge oversized collar is a stylish design feature and leads on to a single fabric covered button closure at the waist. The functional waist pockets are trimmed with matching fabric at an offset angle to create contrast and stunning princess seaming at the back gives additional shape to the jacket. Inside, the jacket is lined in rust red crepe and is without maker’s labels. The skirt features a large box pleat down the front with a small vent below and closes with its original metal side zipper and button above.

The suit is in very good condition with only some slight fabric wear to the bottom of the jacket and the collar tip as pictured as well as a small section of the sleeve lining coming loose.
