This fabulous jacket was made from bottle green gabardine in the 1940s. It is cut in the classic hourglass silhouette with strong padded shoulders and a nipped waist. The huge collar wraps around the back of the blazer and has been adorned with incredibly detailed iridescent beadwork. Matching beading decorates the functional waist pockets which also feature a statement notch design in the centre. The hem at the back has been decorated with metallic feature stitching at different lengths to accentuate the wearer’s shape. These may have once been beaded too but they still add a fabulous feature even without the beading. Three fabric covered buttons fasten the blazer at the front and turn up cuffs finish off the sleeves. Inside, the jacket is lined in brown crepe and has a maker’s label for Ni-Nel as well as the National Recovery Board tag.

The jacket is in very good condition with only two tiny repairs and some very minor loss of beads which has been replaced and secured with stitching so is only visible upon very close inspection.
