This incredible coat was made from black gabardine in the early 1940s. It was cut in a classic princess silhouette with strong padded shoulders, a nipped waist and a flared skirt. The notched lapel collar leads to six buttons which fasten the coat at the front in a double breasted configuration abs oversized pocket flaps adorn the waist. However the real star of the show is the matching cape, which attaches to the coat with press studs. It adds a super flattering feature to the coat as it gently skims the shoulders finishing just above the waist at the back. Inside, the coat is lined in black satin and has a maker’s label for Regal Fashions as well as a National Recovery Board tag.

The coat is in very good condition with only two tiny repairs and some wear to the buttons as pictured. The neck button is missing but would be unlikely to be fastened anyway and there is a seam split to the lining.
