This incredible suit was made from red gabardine in the 1940s. It features super strong padded shoulders giving it a classic 1940s silhouette. The jacket is cut in a flattering cropped style with a rounded off hem. It is adorned throughout with a fabulous grape decoration made up of seven tiny satin covered buttons and silver studs above. The attention to detail is just incredible. Inside, the jacket is lined in red crepe and has a maker’s label for Sandy Smith. The matching skirt is cut in an unusual wrap over style and the line where the fabric meets is highlighted with a double row of the lovely grape decoration.

Shoulders: 15” seam to seam 

Length: 16 1/2”

Skirt

Waist: 28”

Hips: 38” possibly a little more due to wrap style

Length: 28” plus 4 1/2” hem

The suit is in fair condition with some substantial marking, particularly to the sleeves, as pictured. This has not yet been dry cleaned and the marks may lift with dry cleaning. There is also wear to the fabric of a number of the tiny grape buttons (for examples please see photographs).
