Exquisite Original 1940s Vintage Navy Blue Double Breasted Princess Coat With Huge Gold Statement Buttons
This stunning coat was made in the 1940s from deep navy blue wool gabardine. It was cut in the classic fit and flare silhouette of the era with strong padded shoulders, a nipped waist and a gently flared skirt. The super sharp notched lapel collar adds emphasis to the strong shape of the garment and six huge gold statement buttons have been arranged in a double breasted configuration to fasten the coat. Clever darting shapes the waist and there are belt loops if you wish to add a belt to cinch it in even further. Below the waist, the back of the skirt opens up into a large inverted pleat to give wonderful movement and swish to the garment and functional slit pockets at the hip add a practical element. Inside, the coat is lined in sumptuous navy blue satin and has a maker’s label for Auerbach’s of Salt Lake City.
