This stunning hat was made from stitched red shiny plaited cellophane in the 1940s. It is fashioned as a small fedora with a shaped crown and a medium brim. A red grosgrain hat band decorated the crown and is tied in a bow at the side.
As this hat perches loosely on the wearer’s head, it is suitable for a variety of head sizes.
The hat is a bit of a wounded beauty, showing a number of nibbles around the edge of the crown, where the hat lost its red colour, as well as a couple of rows of loose stitching which needs to be reinforced as pictured.
